2nd Week of South Korea: January 10-16

We have arrived Seoul! Now that we are officially settled into Yonsei, let the exploring begin. So far we have sung with K-pop pop stars, and dances, done karaoke with our Korean buddies and had LOTs of Bibimbap. We love Korea so much that the cold weather doesn’t even bother us. A couple of us ended up going to the Leeum Art Museum the other day and it were pretty amazing. The exhibits where really cool and it is amazing to be in a city that has so much art all over.

We also had the unique opportunity to go to the DMZ this week. The DMZ is the demilitarized zone or a sort of “no mans land” between North and South Korea. It was really amazing, but it was also the first snowfall that we had seen yet on global, and it prevented us from going to the observatory to look into North Korea! A bittersweet moment! We were however able to see the freedom bridge and the wishes for unification that were tied along the fences. The whole experience was pretty inexplicable. We loved being there and being able too see all the history that went into this area, but it was also hard to see the separation of families between the two countries.

Class has been really interesting also! Some pretty amazing professors are teaching us, and Yonsei has been so wonderful in accommodating us. We enjoy class, but we are also eager to get out and explore – speaking of which I’ve gotta go to a raccoon cafĂ©. Till next time!
